A three-volume set of books describing in great detail the land and sea birds of New England, focusing on Massachusetts, by author Edward Howe Forbush. All three volumes contain beautiful full-color plates by artists Louis Agassiz Fuertes and Allan Brooks. The detail, both in the artwork and the writing, is incredible. This is a first edition set published in 1929 by Norwood Press and commissioned by the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture.
Condition: First volume in very good condition, partially edgeworn with an inward-bowed spine. All pages are attached, though some are weakly attached to the spine. The other two are in better condition, very slightly edgeworn. Internally, all three contain minor foxing. There is some information penciled in on the first blank pages of each volume, as well as a taped label with the word "index" on volume 3's spine. Volume three also contains some pen marking on the first blank page of volume 3.
